Voravaj Jaque Varazatiravatt's mother was a tailor; he was born with a passion for design and fashion. With intense determination, he studied fashion design and researched clothing on his own. After seven years of hard work, he studied advanced-level techniques of clothes-making and created his own style and techniques toward his approach to couture.
VORAVAJ Bangkok launched in 2013 and has been continuously growing since. Many celebrities choose the brand's creations to wear for significant events and festivals. VORAVAJ Bangkok's fashion house has been featured on many occasions through photos in International and Thai media.
"Craftsmanship is my passion. I found out that the new generation of fashion creators are beginning to lose touch with pure craftsmanship as it requires skill and patience to complete. Currently, there are so many disruptions affecting the whole world, bringing change to the fashion industry. As a designer living in the middle of the world's transitional era, I consider every single innovation as a survival solution for the industry. It is a fact that we can't deny that the world has changed every day, and we shouldn't leave our origins or anyone behind. Life is short - Art is enduring. Let's appreciate the fascination of diversity and prevailing art".
Sustainability Story of the Brand
It's an honor to benefit society with my passion and creations. I have spent six years to now concentrating on local wisdom, not only to conserve our heritage, but to pass it to the new generation who will inherit it. The process itself to me is an essential key to the success of sustainable fashion. I went through the product development by using my knowledge and research as guidance, experience as my concept. By creating new syllabuses and course outlines through lived human experiences, I feel motivated to prepare quality people equipped for the industry in the future. Last, I seek to share my connections to make them tangible and accessible for the next generation.
Inspiration and story behind the outfit, materials used.
I want to make an impression on people with my passion and soul by creating "A Dress of Hope for the Future", which contains techniques I have spent the past thirty years learning, practicing, and experimenting with. Moreover, I would love to express the story and value of our cultural heritage by using a unique fabric in creating the dress. The handwoven cotton material is dyed naturally with volcanic ash, signature to the lesser- known volcanic mountain region of northeastern Thailand, Buriram province.
