Oushnajohn Labrosse Neé (Zoé) born in Seychelles on the 29th April 1990. She is a Technology and Enterprise teacher by profession (teaching fashion and textile context/subject) and also a Fashion Designer. 

She is half Indian from her mothers side- interestingly enough, She found herself possessing a keen passion in designing and sewing at a very young age. She believe such influence stems from her mother and aunty. She attended high school in India. She is equally fluent in 3 languages – apart from her mother tongue- English, Malayalam, and French. Subsequent to her completion of secondary school on La-Digue Island, She had enrolled in a fashion designing course at the institute of Visual Arts; She obtained both certificate and diploma in fashion designing. Apart from the listed academic achievements, She also set for ‘A’ level Arts in 2011, her other noticeable achievements are: in 2008 She awarded best performer in fashion designing in the academic year. To note further my talents She didn’t end there.

Allow her to name a few, In 2010 She had among the 5 finalist in the competition dedicated to the young designers commonly known as “FON LANMAL” her collection explored the theme “ MODERN SLAVERY” In 2017 she obtained a diploma in secondary teaching in the field of Technology and Enterprise. Three years later she had a participant in the Seychelles fashion week 2021. She participated in a further edition at the Seychelles fashion week -5th editions. This year she had privileged enough to represent Seychelles in Seychelles-Dubai fashion week during the EXPO with her collecting exploring the theme “LIFE” (inspired by her two daughters who left this world.

“Inspiration”

Her inspiration of fashion designing came from her late mother and aunty...since she had little her mom and she used to re-create jewelries together and she would help me in drawing, her mother would sew beautiful dresses for her and nice shirts and trousers for dad. The first person who thought her to use a sewing machine was my aunty back in India. At the age of 19, jewelry making became a survival since she needed extra money for collage. But due to insufficient fund she had unable to start my own business, so she found herself becoming a fashion and Textile teacher.

“Her Brand”

The brand OJZ Seychelles officially came to existence in 2019 when she had given a wake-up call after the passing away of her daughter. She realized that life is too short to just let pass without realizing her dreams. Her brand is specialized in jewelry making, leather bags, Lingerie, upholstery and clothings ....The initial OJZ are symbolized to her name oushnajohn Zoé. The idea was conceptualized back in 2009 when she asked by her business studies tutor to come up with a ‘brand’ for a future enterprise for her very own.

“Sustainable history of her Brand”

The more she become aligned to the universe and Mother Nature she is forever environmentally conscious, She does make maximum use of naturally occurred materials for her jewelry products namely: coconut shell, oyster shells, corals, sea shells, fibers and cotton. she believe in a sustainable world.

The jewelry is been inspired by the largest nut in the world “coco- de- mer”. Coco-de-mer is found in the Seychelles island. The nut shape bears an uncanny resemblance to the human female pelvic area
